Lombricultura en Ecuador
La lombricultura tiene cadia día más futuro, ya que ayuda al hombre a reciclar los restos de la mayoría de las materias orgánicas que produce tanto de origen animal como doméstico, evitando la contaminación y a la vez ayudándole en los sistemas de producción agrícola, forestal y de jardinería, poniendo a su disposición un producto totalmente ecológico y reconocido como ideal para el alimento de cualquier clase de plantas y germinación de semillas.
La Lombricultura es una BIOTECNOLOGIA que utiliza, a una especie domesticada de lombriz (Lombriz Roja de California), como una herramienta de trabajo. Recicla todo tipo de materia orgánica y obtiene como fruto de este trabajo fundamentalmente dos productos: el humus y la carne. Aprovechando al mismo tiempo la misma lombriz para múltiples usos: en vivo, para cebo de pesca y al ser tan rica en proteínas, como alimento para pollitos de todas clases (perdiz, codorniz, faisán, etc.) y en harina para mezclar con el pienso para peces, tanto de peceras domésticas como piscifactorías.
